Easy quilting

Lots of babies due this spring (so what's new?) and I have been hankering after using some of the beautiful Japanese fabrics that Allen sent me a few years ago so time for some easy quilting.

Here's the fabrics in their lovely rolled up pack:

Then ironed out.

My favourite two fabrics are the kitty one and the owl one, so cute.

IMGP1675
Cutting it up into strips.
IMGP1677
Playing with some layouts.

Decided on using brown linen (from the Organic Textiles Company) as a background fabric.
IMGP1679
Starch the bejesus out of all the fabric (this is one of my favourite new quilting tips, spray starch is so cool).

And by the end of the weekend, a completed quilt top ready for sandwiching.

Wow that is beautiful! How will you quilt it, and what kind of batting will you use?

Thanks Christine. I always use 'warm and natural' wadding. I tried using a poly mix one in the quilt I made two years ago and I hate it! Bit of a purist for the all natural wadding. Would quite like to try one of those new bamboo waddings though. Have you tried them?
